June 14, 2024

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc. (Philexport) have vowed to cooperate in increasing   utilization of free trade agreements (FTAs) and similar arrangements.

The DTI and Philexport on June 11 signed the MOU  on the promotion and utilization of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement,  and  free trade agreements (FTA) and arrangements.

The MOU institutionalizes the partnership between the government and the exporters  to increase awareness on FTAs including  RCEP through the conduct of collaborative trade education, advocacy and related activities.

The MOU also aims to enhance Philippine exports and further integrate them into global value chains.

Through this strategic partnership, a comprehensive trade education and advocacy campaign will be launched to equip exporters with the necessary knowledge and tools to capture the international market.

These include  capacity-building activities and mentorship programs for exporters; provision of networking and linkage opportunities for businesses and industry associations and; sharing resources and information

The MOU was signed by DTI Secretary Alfredo Pascual and Philexport president Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr.
